Where can you take your Citizenship Ceremony?
Though all in-person citizenship ceremonies are cancelled, some applicants will be invited to attend their citizenship oath ceremony online, over Zoom. Please wait for the IRCC to contact you.
IRCC will send an invitation letter that will include the date, time, Zoom link and log-in instructions.
You will be required to be physically present in Canada to receive your oath of citizenship.
The IRCC will need you to confirm your location before you can participate in the ceremony.
Is it possible to take the Canadian Citizenship Test?
At this time, all citizenship tests and retests are cancelled until further notice.
The government enforced restrictions due to COVID-19 has significantly slowed the process of becoming a naturalized citizen.
Becoming a Canadian citizen is a meaningful and important milestone in many people’s lives. If you have made it as far as becoming a permanent resident, which takes at least 5 years, then you are so close to the finish line. But the finish line has vanished from sight since the pandemic hit. Many people are feeling stress and worry as a result.
There are so many benefits to becoming a Canadian citizen that the uncertainty of not knowing when that dream can be realized can have negative impacts on one’s mental and emotional well being.
